The Future

"In my quiet moments, I think of the future with all of its wonderfulpossibilities and with all of its terrible temptations. I wonder what willhappen to you in the next 10 years. Where will you be? What will you bedoing? That will depend on the choices you make, some of which may seemunimportant at the time but which will have tremendousconsequences."

Formula for Success

"May I leave with you today a simple yet far-reaching formula to guide you in the choices of life:
"Fill your minds with truth.
"Fill your hearts with love.
"Fill your lives with service.
"By doing so, may we one day hear the plaudit from our Lord and Savior, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord' (Matthew 25:23).

My Right Pinkie

Yesterday I read with a student during silent reading time. When we were finished with the book I was asking him questions about the story. Here is how the rest of the conversation went:

STUDENT: Can I see your finger that you got stung by the scorpion?

ME:Oh sure, but there is no mark left. (showing him the finger) When I got stung it took me a minute to realize what happened then I put ice on it and took some medicine to help with the pain.

His question made me chuckle because a few weeks earlier I had asked him what his favorite animal was and he replied that it was a scorpion!!
